About Choy Lee Chun Animals
Each animal symbolizes a style, element, nature and progression of Gung Fu. A beginning practitioner will develop stability through the Elephant Style. The practitioner then learns to add the component of direct line attack and defense along with the introduction to movement with the technique.
As a practitioner progresses, fluidity begins in the water stage which is Cobra. The principles of Wing Chun combat are introduced. Blue Sash is the transition from beginning levels of gung fu into the upper levels. The crane is a master of distance, accuracy and also aerial techniques. From here the practitioner cultivates inner strength, and explosion studying and immersing oneself in Praying Mantis style gung fu. Upon completion of Red Sash test a practitioner may apply for provisional instructorship (Se-Hing).
A commissioned Se-Hing will continue to train and teach for the next two years while earning Brown & Black Sashes and gaining eligibility for full Instructorship license (Sifu).
