Top 5 Health Benefits of CBD by Tracie Dodson If you’re not supplementing with CBD, you’re missing out! CBD has become very popular over the last three years and with good reason: it provides a wide range of health benefits. More and more people are realizing improved overall health once they start supplementing with CBD with a multitude of health-related improvements, but here I will go over what I believe are the top five, based on my personal experience and observations. 1. Relieves Pain Nerve damage, whether it originates from an accident or diabetes, is very painful, and many people do not want to take expensive, heavy painkillers. There is also the added fear of becoming addicted to these prescription drugs. I have personally witnessed a family member and a close friend benefit in an amazing way from the painkilling ability of CBD. My family member shockingly survived a terrible car accident about 15 years ago, but was left with herniated discs and terrible pain. They were told they would always be in pain and were prescribed heavy pain killers. After about 10+ years of taking these meds and seeing their health decline, I was introduced to CBD and told them about it. They were hesitant at first to come off the pain meds, but decided to give it a try. After taking heavy doses of pain meds, 4 times per day, they were able to wean themselves off of it and only take CBD. They considered it a lifesaver. The pain was under control immediately. The best part is that the pain relief did not cause any damage to his body, in fact, with CBD, it is quite the opposite. They experienced pain relief along with a myriad of overall health benefits that actually improved their health. In another instance, a close friend of mine was a long-time sufferer of diabetes and eventually began experiencing degenerative nerve pain in his feet. His job involved a lot of walking and climbing stairs, so his pain began affecting his work. I recommended CBD to him and within a month, his physician was backing him off his expensive nerve pain (if you have diabetes nerve pain, I’m sure you would recognize the brand name of his painkiller). He was thrilled! He would often complain that the prescription med made him feel “loopy”. After CBD supplementation, the pain level dropped significantly and he was able to continue to work...again, all without damaging his body further but actually improving his overall health. (FYI.... CBD works with your hormones to regulate blood sugar levels as well.) https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6535492/ 2. Eases Anxiety This is something a lot of people struggle with on a daily basis. Anxiety can be debilitating and interfere greatly with everyday life and social situations. Even if a person doesn’t think they have anxiety, they may experience a feeling of being “tightly-wound” or “stressed-out” as is sometimes described. I would say one of the first things most people experience soon after taking CBD is a feeling of relaxation and overall “calmness”. Personally, I don’t have any type of anxiety, but as someone who owned their own company for 10 years, I experienced a feeling of relaxation I hadn’t felt in years. Honestly, I didn’t even realize how “tightly-wound” I was until my first dose. My dog, on the other hand is a rescue and has always been nervous and anxious. Not on CBD! She relaxed, and is not as skittish. (BONUS: she also dropped extra weight/gained muscle AND stopped itching from an allergy she has to grass). In addition, my sister suffers from social anxiety and once she started taking CBD her demeanor definitely changed. She is much more relaxed, and will tell anyone that she never wants to go without it again! https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33668469/ https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4604171/ 3. Promotes Weight Loss I can’t think of too many people who DON’T want to lose weight. Sometimes being overweight is genetic, sometimes people overeat or don’t eat nutritious meals, maybe they don’t get enough exercise, but a lot of times people overlook the influence hormones have on our weight and our entire body. (Hormones in your body include cortisol, insulin, testosterone, progesterone and estrogen, just to name a few.) You may not be aware, but in our modern world, chemicals we ingest from foods, plastic chemicals that seep into our bottled water, various detergents, lotions, beauty products and more, all combine to overwhelm our bodies. These chemicals are recognized by our bodies as estrogen (called xenoestrogens) and cause weight gain, “man boobs” in men, hair loss, and exaggerated menopause symptoms among MANY other things that I do not have time to address here. (Please do your own research on xenoestrogens, it is well worth your time.) Suffice it to say these chemicals are difficult for our bodies to filter out and wreak havoc on our hormones and therefore our weight (to name just one). CBD works naturally with our bodies to balance hormones. Now, other steps may need to be taken, such as ridding yourself of environmental chemicals, but CBD goes a long way in the first few months to re-balance hormones. As a result, many people notice a reduction in weight. 4. Builds Muscle Right now, plant protein for muscle-building is all the rage, and with good reason: your body (especially as you age) better metabolizes protein from plants as opposed to animal protein. You may be familiar with whey protein, but I bet you never realized that hemp seed has more protein than chickpeas, kidney beans, beef, peanuts and chicken. That’s right! Protein content per 100g is as follows: Chickpeas 19G Kidney Beans 24G Beef 26G Peanuts 26G Chicken 27G Hemp Seeds 31G 5. Guards Against Colds/Flu, Bacteria and Free-Radical Damage There’s a lot of concern these days around Covid-19, as well as different bacterial strains and free-radical damage within cells. In general, keeping your body free from environmental damage is a must. CBD is an all-natural supplement that I (as well as many others) can say from personal experience, keeps all these invaders at bay. I can honestly say that I am rarely sick and CBD has helped me to battle an overgrowth of candida in my digestive system. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC7924206/ Free radical damage can manifest itself in many ways inside the body that you cannot see, such as damage to DNA. However, it can also show up in ways that we can see, such as skin that looks much older than it would otherwise. I am 52 and I have been taking CBD regularly for 3 years now and I can honestly say that my skin is smoother and looks much younger than it did 5 years ago. If there were no other benefits than THAT one, I wouldn’t want to go without it!! Ladies, I’m sure you can empathize with that one! In conclusion, keep in mind that CBD is not a magical substance that can reverse a lifestyle of drinking alcohol, no exercise, eating poorly and just generally not taking care of yourself. However, if you are willing to put a little effort into improving your health and are consistent in supplementing CBD on a regular basis, it can go a LONG way in reversing the less-than-desirable symptoms you may be experiencing. I am including a link below to an article talking about CBD and Covid-19 as well as a link to the CBD that I personally use and recommended to my friends and family mentioned above. As everyone around me knows, I research before I buy and am particular about my supplements being pure, organic and processed correctly, so whatever brand you choose, think about those aspects. I wish you healing and happiness! For more information on CBD and Covid-19: https://www.news-medical.net/news/20210314/Cannabis-compound-inhibits-SARS-CoV-2-replication-in-human-lung-cells.aspx For my CBD brand: www.blackandsandorganics.com There are a lot of products to choose from and since people usually want to know exactly what I use, it’s the Full Spectrum 500mg tincture/oil. If you would like CBD without any THC, choose the Broad Spectrum 500mg. I have taken the Peppermint and Cinnamon flavor and they taste great, but if you want to save money and share it with your pets, choose the Natural (no) flavor. (They also have a bacon flavored Pet oil 250mg that my dog takes.) -Tracie Dodson
